Line for A Walk is the moniker that Gill Cameron created when she wanted to rediscover her painting style. After many years working to brief as a textile designer, she embraced the idea of painting freely three years ago and discovered a renewed passion to create art everyday. Gill used this freedom to experiment, to evolve her style and capture the essence of living by the sea in her prints.
When she recreates her coastal environment on paper, the viewer sees a snapshot of Gill's life and everything she loves about the eastern beaches of Sydney. The colour, movement and energy of the sea and the people she meets are then put to paper with dreamy watercolours layered with texture and pattern.
I am fascinated by the fluid nature of watercolour and use its unpredictable nature to encapsulate my sketches of the sea, pools and the beach, giving them depth and bringing them to life. Pushing boundaries in this medium, I like to test myrself and the ink by making it very liquid and using it's spontaneity to produce my range of unique works.
