Growing up in a small country town, looking back now it could be seen as isolating. I felt free with potential, unaware of the boundaries or limitations; my mind ran with stories and creativity intertwined within the mountains and nature.
โManyungโ is where my journey began. I now paint those same mountains and fields that I once ran across and those trees that I climbed. The soil that stained my jeans and the barbed wire that I snagged my knees on. Where my father taught me each blade of grass and my mother always left the light on. Manyung is a wide open door, depicting the human condition, the turmoils of relationships, family and unconditional love. That I am in fact, just like my parents. And all of their idiosyncrasies, the older I am, I realise, they are mine too.
Acrylic and oil pastel on a stretched canvas, singed on the front, Certificate of Authenticity included.
