Old and New

My main art influence is trees. In this painting I have attempted to capture the character of the old fig tree, with its beautiful roots and textures, the freshness of the new one sprouting at its base and the play of light through the surrounding rainforest. Room setting is suggested framing only.

Glenda Markwell has had a passion for art from a young age. She has attended various painting and drawing workshops while pursuing a career in advertising and marketing. Formal education and experience in design principles has complemented her art practices.
Her interest has always been painting and drawing from nature, mostly focused on trees, animals,
and other natural objects. Glenda works in pencil, charcoal, acrylic, pastel, watercolour and, more recently, digital media, but her true passion lies with paint and pencil.
Since 2020, she has been focusing more on her artistic pursuits, pushing personal boundaries,
trying new styles, techniques ,and subjects and entering art competitions.
Glenda is a member of the Royal Queensland Art Society.
