I have been creating and selling art all my life. My first โart prizeโ was at the age of eight, winning first prize which was a box of coloured pencils and a pad of art quality paper. I was hooked. I started my professional art career in the middle 1980's completing a Certificate in Ceramics. I established Bryden Pottery and sold my work through specific galleries in Victoria. In 1996 I returned to university to undertake my Bachelor of Art (Visual Arts) completing a double major in Ceramics & Drawing. My art practice has been diverse; over the years I have created and sold studio ceramics, studio mosaic, 3D construction, traditional bookbinding, paintings and drawings. My mosaic included large garden feature pieces which included handmade 'tiles' . I would sell many through Melbourne Garden centres and galleries. While practicing my own art, I also worked with my local councils, schools and other organizations doing public art work. From 2005 to 2018 I taught art with Corrections Victoria, teaching ceramics, mosaics, painting, drawing and bookbinding. At the moment I work at creating bespoke handmade books using reclaimed leather, original paintings in watercolour, acrylic, cold wax and oil and ink and charcoal drawings. My passion is lines; I just love drawing beautiful expressive lines. I even like to draw on my paintings. Nature and the environment is where I find inspiration. Many of my paintings and drawings will suggest an environmental consideration or explores a landscape. I use aerial photography to shift landscape to a more abstraction inspiration. I use lines like topography and like to push and pull at the surface using earth tones and shading. Thank you.
