Artwork Description

The Last Charge

This powerful original oil painting print captures one of the most iconic moments in Australian military history—the legendary charge of the Australian Light Horse at Beersheba on 31 October 1917. Set against a dramatic red sky and sweeping ochre desert landscape, this artwork brings to life the raw energy, determination, and courage of the mounted troops who defied the odds and carved their place in history.

With rich, textured brushwork and a warm, earthy palette, the painting vividly portrays the thunder of hooves, the dust of the desert, and the fearless forward momentum of riders and their Waler horses charging across the open plain. The scene is both cinematic and deeply human, capturing the chaos and bravery of the moment while paying tribute to the men who risked everything—and the loyal animals who carried them into the fray.

The Charge at Beersheba was more than a military victory; it was a defining moment of national character—bold, resilient, and unrelenting. This painting honours that spirit. Every detail, from the tension in the riders’ stances to the glint of light on steel and leather, speaks of a desperate gamble that became a legendary triumph.

Whether you're a collector of war history, Australian heritage, or simply a lover of bold, emotive art, this piece is a stirring centrepiece.

Own a timeless tribute to courage, honour, and sacrifice.
