Born in Kuala Lumpur, of Chinese - Malaysian heritage, immigrated to and now living and working on Boon Wurrung Land, Melbourne Australia; the work of Grace Foo-Barton 'fragments to masterpiece', is centred around the idea of merging both what is representational and conceptual.
Her creativity is led and influenced by her heritage and backgrounds interwoven with a touch of Mother Nature, conveyance through written word and every so often by the outlines of forms and contours.
Every detail, none of which are the same has its own story to impart. The extensive and freedom to explore a variety of techniques presents as an important part towards creating her unique pieces. These include using an array of earthy- tones to vibrant-richer colour schemes, ample of layering and textures and a hint of mixed media which are often recognisable in her work. She enjoys the mystery, wonder, beauty and dedication that each piece requires from her.
Blessed with amazing opportunities to experience diverse cultures, heritages and backgrounds, Grace often includes such encounters to evoke her creative processes. Her work is evident on how it's portrayed in representing diversity and harmonious life in sharing kindness, love and hope.
