Artwork Description

In this series of paintings of cats I wanted to test the physical limitations of wet in wet watercolour technique. After initial sketching and a little masking the paper was placed on a perfectly level heavy board and evenly saturated with water. Then the painting starts with very broad strokes of light colour and as the process continues the paint is applied with deeper values and smaller brushes; the wetness of the painting is maintained with a spray bottle. This technique requires a lot of preparation, the colours must be prepared in advance and painting is done non stop.
