Artwork Description

Having been forced to stay behind the wall, away from society, told to be quiet, not cause a fuss, to fit in, to be 'normal', to be the same, the Stag has now had enough and has broken through. This noble and proud beast has realised that their uniqueness and individuality, is something to be celebrated and seen.
This has been a fact of life for many (not all), members of the LGBTQI+ community, but as the world grows, it has also become more knowledgeable and accepting of differences, whether they be sexuality, culture, race, and, although, the events of the past year or so, have brought us closer together, it has also shown, that there is still so much work to be done in order to tackle prejudice.

Not Just Another Brick in the Wall is painted in acrylic with oil pastel, is coated in 2 layers of quality matt varnish, and has painted sides. The canvas is unframed and has a hanging wire on the back, making it completely ready to hang as soon as it arrives at your door
* Some of the images above show this piece in a frame, this is just a suggestion and comes unframed- should you wish to have the work framed, check out Bluethumbs framing options.

Artist Bio

I am an artist who works, mostly in abstract art, with a touch of surrealism and a little of the impressionist, and who loves to experiment with media- mostly acrylics at the moment.
I currently reside in Sydney’s Inner West, and love soaking up the culture and expressions of this artistic mecca.

I have been making art, and creative projects from a young age, with some of my very early works (while studying), becoming quite political in either their origins or their outcomes. Growing up in Northern Ireland (UK), provided a lot of inspiration, and opportunity, for political statements, and I can recall my tutors often asking me to hold back a bit, and when I explained my process, was told to really go for it. Sometimes though, I did have to be sensitive to the political situation.

I made the move to Australia a few years ago, and it inspires me every day to be creative. I try to include this, along with my world travels, and experiences from my home, into my abstract work. This could be a colour palette, a sound, a smell, a memory, even a dream, and I try to incorporate this into the creative process. This process can often take me on a journey, of which, I do not always know where it will end! This can be frustrating at times, but mostly, I love the outcome, and this is a huge part of abstract art, (for me anyway).
I hope you enjoy what I create.

Although each of my pieces is completely original and not easy to replicate, I am more than happy to find out your needs, and come up with something in a similar style, that is unique and individual to you.
