Artangie is an abstract expressionist artwork, with a minimalist feel. I have used warm earthy colours and soft edges to create a gentle relaxed possible warm feel.
The technique used to create this painting is similar to an artist names Mark Rothko. I often set myself challenges to apply techniques or styles by other artists, and this is one such example.
The process involves layering and layering a small number of colours into defined and related shapes. The edges need to be defined but not harsh. The colours need to be contained but painterly. It is quite a challenge to get everything just right when painting such a minimalist piece.
I have also added textures into the underpainting, along with loads of subtle detail which means the painting can be admired from afar or examined up close to see how it was constructed.
I recommend adding a black frame to really set this piece off.
I have signed the painting and finished it off with several layers of matte varnish coat to highlight the colours, and to protect the painting.
Note the images showing the painting mounted on the wall are for illustration purposes only. The correct measurements are provided below. A handy way of determining just how this sized painting will work in your space is to use blue tack dots or removable low tack masking tape on your wall to plot out the border of the painting. This method gives you a realistic impression of how the painting will fit on your wall
