This work is part of a series entitled "Romancing the Landscape" which highlights a romantic and nostalgic approach to my landscape painting and focuses on the significance of location to my family history or to social history and a places “Memories”. It often incorporates places I have been, or where ancestors have lived in the distant past. Avoca is a beach at which my family spent many holidays and to which I feel a sentimental attachment. This isolated spot is where beauty and tragedy co-exist as there was a drowning off these rocks many years ago.
