Acrylic on wood, ready to hang.
Signed on the front.
La Esquina sits on a corner in SOHO in New York City. Its an iconic restaurant and to an artist this landmark shines like a beacon both day and night. Possibly one of my most time consuming paintings and one that I truly love. It transports me back to that little corner in the biggest city in the world. Some days you get lucky sketching or photographing an subject and getting that classic Van cutting into shot at the time, well its just one of those moments that excites you as an artist. The artwork is unframed and on plywood with back supports so it can hang as it is with a shadow line away from a wall. Its also quite heavy as the ply is thick.
This work will be on display at Bluethumb's Melbourne Gallery for the exhibition 'Rising Realism' from April 12th.
