Artist Bio

Greta Hounslow is an Australian artist. Her paintings explore an intuitive connection to landscape and place. Working from her coastal studio just outside Hobart, Tasmania she creates layered, expressive works that blend abstraction with elements of Australiana — drawing on colour, rhythm and memory rather than direct representation.

Greta works intuitively, allowing each painting to unfold through instinct and movement. Her process often feels like a form of remembering — channeling landscapes that may not be familiar in a physical sense, yet arrive with emotional clarity and depth. Tracks, trees, animals and shifting horizons appear as symbols of connection, movement and belonging.

Her practice is deeply influenced by the Australian bush and remote landscapes with earthy palettes and tactile surfaces reflecting the quiet power of country.
Greta was named a Bluethumb Rising Star in 2025 and has been a finalist in the Revival Art & Design Gallery Emerging Artist Prize (2023–2026) and Corner Store Gallery’s Inside This Box Art Prize (2022–2026). She has participated in numerous group exhibitions across Australia.
