Artwork Description

This painting is inspired by the landscape along the Nogo River in the upper Burnett, Queensland. It features ironbarks, a bottle tree and a kurrajong. It is an oil on canvas, finished with white edges and intentionally left with paint spills to enhance the visual impact, signed and ready to hang.

Artist Bio

The nickname was first used by my uncle when I was a youth. The years of that young stockman and dozer driver are now a distant memory.

I was born in country Queensland and spent my early childhood on a cattle property situated along the Nogo River. As a child, I would often go out into the paddocks with my father and I've felt a strong connection to that landscape ever since.

I'm a mainly self-taught artist working in oils. I now paint as ‘Greybeard,’ exploring that harsh country that is so familiar to me. The sands of the Nogo and the black ironbarks of the surrounding expanse carry a strong sense of place and personal identity.
