Artwork Description

This painting is inspired by the landscape at the Wuruma Dam in the Upper Burnett, Queensland. It features the terrain at the dam wall, presenting an artistic interpretation of the country that frames the serene waters of the lake. The ominous clouds breaking above the horizon evoke a sense of foreboding, inviting the viewer to contemplate the deeper mysteries of the landscape. It is an oil on canvas, finished with a gloss varnish and white edges, intentionally left uneven to enhance the visual impact, signed and ready to hang, enriching your home with the alluring yet enigmatic charm of the Australian outback.

Artist Bio

The nickname was first used by my uncle when I was a youth. The years of that young stockman and dozer driver are now a distant memory.

I was born in country Queensland and spent my early childhood on a cattle property situated along the Nogo River. I now paint as ‘Greybeard,’ exploring that harsh country that is so familiar to me. The sands of the Nogo and the black ironbarks of the surrounding expanse carry a strong sense of place and personal identity.
