No Rain

This painting captures the landscape where the Rawbelle township once thrived, located on the Nogo River, along the historic wool road between Gayndah and Gladstone. It evokes the whispers of the past. The nickname was first used by my uncle when I was a youth. The years of that young stockman and dozer driver are now a distant memory.

I was born in country Queensland and spent my early childhood on a cattle property situated along the Nogo River. I now paint as ‘Greybeard,’ exploring that harsh country that is so familiar to me. The sands of the Nogo and the black ironbarks of the surrounding expanse carry a strong sense of place and personal identity.
