Artwork Description

This is inspired by the landscape along the Nogo or Great Sandy River in the Upper Burnett, Queensland. It is heavily textured with traces of underpainting layers being an integral part of the painting's history. It is an oil on canvas, finished with a gloss varnish and white edges, intentionally left uneven to enhance the visual impact, signed and ready to hang and enrich your home with the alluring charm of the Australian outback.

Artist Bio

The nickname was first used by my uncle when I was a youth. The years of that young stockman and dozer driver are now a distant memory.

I was born in country Queensland and spent my early childhood on a cattle property situated along the Nogo River. I now paint as ‘Greybeard,’ exploring that harsh country that is so familiar to me. The sands of the Nogo and the black ironbarks of the surrounding expanse carry a strong sense of place and personal identity.
