Artwork Description

This is a painting inspired by the landscape of the upper Burnett, Queensland. It features the remnants of the brumby fence in the country along the Nogo River. It is an oil on canvas, finished with a gloss varnish, edges in yellow ochre and paint spills intentionally left to enhance the visual impact of the painting, signed and ready to hang.

Artist Bio

The nickname was first used by my uncle when I was a youth. The years of that young stockman and dozer driver are now a distant memory.

I was born in country Queensland and spent my early childhood on a cattle property situated along the Nogo River. I now paint as ‘Greybeard,’ exploring that harsh country that is so familiar to me. The sands of the Nogo and the black ironbarks of the surrounding expanse carry a strong sense of place and personal identity.
