- Art is life expressing itself… These words have resonated in my mind for a long time, and they have significant meaning for me. Each artist has a different expression of life, each work of art expresses emotions, colours, movements and rhythms, a whole universe of sensations and experiences. This is what I feel, and I try to share it with everyone who stops to observe my work.
- My biggest source of inspiration is nature. It is there where I observe the depth of the colours, the variation and complexity of the forms, the great contrast of lights and shadows, and even the majesty of the ocean with its innumerable blue tones, the rhythm of the waves and the white lace of the foam in the sea. All these elements awaken sensations, and states of consciousness that later find their expression in my work. It is there where I let a previously captured emotion flourish freely, and many times I feel as if an original idea is transformed, and begins to “speak to me”. In those moments is when intuition flows directly to the canvas. In my work, I use textures to give depth, like a 3D effect, where different layers of paint are intermingled with deep, intense colours. I also include metallic paints that give a bright and iridescent look. A close-up observation can sometimes give a totally different dimension to my painting. My artwork is a constant fluctuation and integration from the figurative to the abstract. I hope to be able to transmit a feeling of joy and well-being with my works, the same feeling that I experience when creating them. Thank you for visiting this page!
- Griselda (GriAl as her artist’s name), daughter of an Italian family in Argentina, had already demonstrated at the age of 5 her ability for drawing and painting. In 1970, when she was still in high school, she won an Art Prize "Martin Fierro", organised by the Education & Culture Ministry of Santa Fe Province in Argentina.
In 1981, she achieved the degree of "Bachelor of Visual Arts" with "Diploma on Education" at the National University of Rosario, Argentina where she graduated with honours. During the intensive 5-year course, Griselda studied with well-known South-American and European teachers.
- During the period 1980-1986 Griselda worked as a drafts-person within the Institute of Geography and Geology at the University of Science and Engineering of Rosario. In conjunction with this activity, she was lecturer assistant in Art History at the University, and she has taught in her own studio instructing adults, as well as children in the wonderful world of drawing, painting, and sculpture.
From 1983 to 1985, Griselda (GriAl) has participated in several exhibitions in Argentina, Brazil and Chile.
- Griselda migrated to Australia with her family in 1986 as a permanent resident and in 1990 became an Australian Citizen. It did not take her long to start feeling 'at home' as she felt comfortable with the Australian culture and aboriginal art. She was, however, so amazed and delighted with the Australian landscape and its beauty, that she quickly resumed her first love which she had started to miss so much: ART and TEACHING.
In 1990, after only three and a half years of residence, her qualifications were fully recognised in Australia by the NOOSR (National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition), and the ACT Department of Education. Since then, she has taught in many schools and colleges in Canberra, where she has been very successful with her special teaching techniques.
In 1996, she moved to the Gold Coast after having made several previous trips to Queensland and her increasing love for the climate, oceanic and hinterland environments. She became enchanted by the beauty of the Gold Coast and felt that this would be the perfect place to settle with her family. Almost immediately, she began teaching Art from her own studio at home, with the vision of opening her own Fine Art School.
- In January 2001, she opened with her husband an Art School named “GriAl College of Fine Arts & Languages” in Strathaird Road in Bundall, on the Gold Coast. In 2003 changed its name for GriAl College of Fine Arts & Languages, adding more courses and disciplines such as: Photography, Journalism and Spanish. The venue run successfully for 6 years, teaching Drawing and Painting for children and adults, until it was forced to closure due to a family accident.
During all this time and the following years, GriAl also participate in many art exhibitions, she had several commissioned works, and her artworks were sold to collectors in Australia, Argentina, New Zealand, Spain, Italy, France, and Indonesia.
- Griselda's (GriAl) high level of academic achievement and artistic capacity are evident throughout her career as a lecturer in Universities, schools, public and private and TAFE for several years.
