Artwork Description

Held explores the tension between strength and vulnerability, presence and retreat. The figure occupies a space between exposure and protection, her posture both guarded and grounded. Through stark monochrome contrasts and expressive brushwork, the painting reflects the duality of the human experience—how we can be resilient while carrying tenderness, and how being held can mean both confinement and comfort.

Artist Bio

Hamed is a Brisbane-based figurative artist exploring themes of duality and tension through charcoal and acrylic.

"Duality: The Body" maps the coexistence of opposing forces within a single body. This series fractures realistic anatomy into abstract planes of charcoal and ochre. Soft, luminous curves meet aggressive charcoal lines as the series moves between shadow, erosion and light.

"Duality: The Terrain" canvases structured planes on organic land. In this series, cliffs, skies and earth bend under the same weight as Hamed's figurative work. Blending soft natural colours with raw bursts of red or blue, each landscape crackles with energy.
