Artwork Description

I'm always fascinated by beach side dead trees. This one was found on Mulambin Beach, Yeppoon, Central Queensland. In this watercolour painting, I use limited colours to express a kind of desolate and wild feeling.

Artist Bio

Hanbing Lu was born and raised in Shanghai, immigrating to Australia in 2014 where she now lives in Rockhampton as a visual artist and university lecturer. Lu’s artistic education included Western art from a young age, while Chinese traditional art, religion, philosophy, and cultural history have also influenced her, becoming a subconscious element in her creative process. Engaging in diverse practices such as oil painting, Chinese calligraphy and watercolour, Lu explores a blend of techniques coupled with inspiration drawn from the natural beauty of Central Queensland and the diverse cultural influences of the region.
