“Playtime”

Enough with being sensible.

Get curious. Make a mess. Change your mind. Do something purely because it's fun.

Playtime is a little reminder that life doesn't always need a point.

Sometimes you just have to bugger off and play.

Artist Bio

Hanna Edwards is an Australian mixed media artist based in Western Australia, originally from country Victoria near the Grampians National Park. She returned seriously to art as an adult and later studied with The Milan Art Institute, developing the technical skills that underpin her full-time practice.
Hanna creates expressive representational works in mixed media and oil, often featuring animals, birds and the human figure. Her paintings combine carefully rendered imagery with layered colour, texture and selective expressive marks. Although the finished work can feel energetic, her process is slow, structured and methodical. She generally begins with an idea and a reference, builds texture into the surface, and develops the image deliberately through layers before introducing marks, drips, scratches or other elements where they serve the work.
For Hanna, creative freedom isn't about having no plan. It's the freedom to make her own choices: to paint what interests her, use the materials that suit the work, change direction when needed and develop without forcing herself into a single style or subject.
That philosophy sits behind both her work and her wider creative practice: Unfenced. Untamed. Free.
