Artwork Description

I'm exploring self expression through dance, loud music and seeing what happens.

Escaping through play and letting go is the end goal. Controlling everything is unrealistic and fun sucking, the goal is to just be, to let go and feel the freedom within and follow the thread of happiness and joy. What will be, will be was born through this concept.

The themes that inspire me whilst creating these art pieces is always the same freedom, self expression and play are at the forefront of my mind whilst creating my artwork.

Original artwork on 300gsm watercolour paper

Artist Bio

Hanna Edwards is an Australian mixed media artist based in Western Australia, originally from country Victoria near the Grampians National Park. Inspired by a lifelong passion for creativity, she paints full time and continues to refine her practice through dedicated studio work and studies with The Milan Art Institute.
Working across mixed media and oil, Hanna creates expressive representational artworks that combine texture, colour and bold mark-making. Each painting begins with an idea before evolving through layered surfaces, expressive marks and written elements that give every piece its own energy and character. Through her work, she explores freedom, self-expression and the courage to choose yourself, encouraging others to stop asking permission and trust their own voice. Her work explores freedom, self-expression and the courage to choose yourself. Through each painting, Hanna hopes to inspire others to trust themselves, stop asking permission and live life on their own terms. As she says, "I don't create to fit in. I create to be free."
