This work is from a series entitled road trip, which seeks to document place and memory. Living near the surf coast and great ocean road for most of my life, there are certain places I find myself revisiting constantly. Made up of fabric cyanotype prints, traces of collected objects leave behind their silhouettes, which are combined with blotches of sea water and photo negatives to fully capture a sense of location. Imprints left by these objects, blur and fade, much like memory fades into fragments within the mind. Memory is further attached to these works through their titles, each named after a significant memory that is evoked when encountering these places. These memories are of a time that I look back on with a sense of nostalgia, at time that was simple and full of adventure. This particular work features imagery from Bells Beach.
This work is framed behind glass, however for ease of visualisation and documentation, I have included an unframed photograph for a clearer image.
