Artist Bio

Hannah is an emerging artist based in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia. With a background that interweaves teaching and artistic expression, Hannah has recently returned to her art practice after raising a daughter and dedicating two decades to education. This transition has reignited a profound passion for creating art that reflects the beauty and complexity of everyday life.

Hannah's work is deeply influenced by the surrounding landscapes, particularly the flora of Australia. Currently, she is captivated by Australian botanicals, exploring the unique forms and colours of native plants. Through her artwork, she seeks to celebrate the intricate details of these natural subjects, drawing inspiration from walks in nature and the rich biodiversity of the region. This focus on botanicals allows her to connect more deeply with the environment and highlight the often-overlooked beauty in the Australian Landscape.

In her artistic process, Hannah utilises found objects to inform her creations, blending traditional techniques with contemporary themes. Her collection of lampshade sculptures, tells a story. Each piece embodies themes of fragility, strength, light, and warmth, inviting viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of experiences across generations. This exploration of narratives through objects is a testament to Hannah's belief in the power of art as a means of storytelling.

As part of an upcoming exhibition, titled "Botanical Threads: A Visual Tapestry of Impermanent Stories," Hannah aims to intertwine the botanical works with the rich tapestry of stories embedded in the landscapes they explore. The artistic journey is characterised by a desire to collect and present found objects, paintings, and drawings that represent the transient beauty of life.
