“Australian Desert” is my exploration of how vast, ancient landscapes hold both stillness and movement at once. In this work, I wanted to portray the desert not as an empty expanse, but as a living environment shaped by light, texture, and the quiet rhythms of nature.
The flowing, river‑like formation in the foreground is intentional—it represents the memory of water in a place defined by dryness. Australian deserts often carry traces of what once moved through them, and I wanted that sense of geological storytelling to guide the composition. The warm palette of ochres, burnt oranges, and golds reflects the land’s heat and age, while the dramatic sky introduces a contrasting sense of motion. Those swirling clouds are painted to feel almost sculptural, echoing the desert’s ability to shift from calm to powerful in an instant.
