Artist Bio

1948 was my first year at Secondary College and I had the good fortune to have Kenneth Jack as my art tutor. In the years to come Kenneth Jack became one of Australia’s great water colourists.
My luck continued as in subsequent years at Scotch College I had the help of Oscar Helms as a tutor.
In the 60’s and 70’s I exhibited in the Herald Outdoor Art Show and the Camberwell Rotary Exhibitons. I studied with C.Dudley Wood during these years.
Port Phillip Bay has been my inspiration for much of my work, holidaying in Sorrento since 1940 and my brother operating the Sorrento-Queenscliff Passenger Ferry for 30 years. I have a great affinity with the area.
For the last 28 years in have lived bayside in Beaumaris, where our greatest artists worked more than 100 years ago.
2017 has been one of my most successful. Years, winning awards at Camberwell and Bayside Art Shows and successfully exhibiting in Sorrento, Yea, Roberts McCubbin Shows and Linden Art Gallery.
I currently work with Malcolm Beattie and David Taylor in their studios.
