Hayley Buchanan is a self taught abstract artist based in South East Queensland. After leaving a full time role in 2021, Hayley focused her attention on her creative passions and set up a home studio.
The homes of the women in her family have always been unique spaces, filled with crafty creations that express personality and individuality. After leaving a transient lifestyle and finding her forever home, she wanted her space to reflect her eclectic nature. She was inspired to start painting and discovered a talent for creating art that also brings joy to others.
Hayley creates mostly with acrylics, favouring painting on canvas. She spends a part of the creative process drawing and has experimented with ceramics. The decoration phase of ceramics is the most appealing. Her artworks honour her love of contrasting colours, her works feature pastel coloured backgrounds with bold, often earthy tones. Subconsciously inspired by her love of mid-century, retro aesthetic, her works frequently feel nostalgic. Symbols and geometric shapes add a whimsical element.
