Artwork Description

Migration
From dust to flooding rains,
the outback comes to life.
The Cooper, Diamantina,
the Georgina does the same.
Tributaries twist and turn
on baked red earth for weeks
and months, the water snakes,
soaking flood plains into mats of green.
Then they come — the birds —
to the inland sea,
Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre,
so rich in its diversity.
The Kati Thanda people
tell of dreamtime stories,
as ancient as the continent,
the serpent and the Yellow Belly,
with Barcoo Grunter, Spangled Perch,
and Desert Rainbowfish.
The salty lake explodes,
millions of waterbirds feast.
The miracle of a desert seethes with life.
Tourists descend!
Just takes a drop of rain!
The Last Supper a memory!

Artist Bio

Heather Gall Fine Art
Heather delights in the 'disordered order' of the natural world.
She is focused on a desire to do her best work, to be her best, hands on the brushes, mind engaged! Painting variously, in oils, watercolours and acrylics, her love of the landscape is evident as she traverses her environment, observing the lights, shadows, tangled brush, majestic trees, glistening waterways, varied birdlife, vast and many colourful skies and vistas.
In Heather’s words, “I hope that my work will pull you into a place, a time, a memory, a moment, a fleeting promise where you find joy in the simple quiet places. Art is a language that I have found I need no words for. To immerse myself in the act of creating images, I am on an internal and intuitive sensory journey, interpreting my landscape the way I feel it. I hope my works resonate on some level of enjoyment for you too!”
