Oil, Canvas, Ready to hang
93cm (W) x 123cm (H) x 2cm (D)
I was remembering a early morning walk looking towards the Olgas and noted how unusual the light was. It felt like it was going to rain, but that never happened. The light changed the colour and contrast of the landscape and this is what I am trying to capture.
No painting is without challenges, I dare not throw a layer of paint on the canvas and say its complete! Even when I love the spontaneous effect of that first layer. The canvas deserves my attention and intention, to be worked on and to go through the process of layering paint, scratching it back almost to the point of disaster, before returning it back to life. Paintings need to evolve over the period of time, capturing my changing moods. Quite often the final result surprises me and the fine line of knowing when to walk away is not always apparent.
