This painting is based on the view from my neighbour's house. This painitng was a study for the much larger Cattle Crossing II Every lot in our part of Cedar Creek has a different but equally stunning view. The sub-division we live in used to be a cattle property and the cattle track is still a mark on the land from when Max Morrison used to move his herd around the land. I love that it still exists as a memory of the land and the people who farmed it. I have been exploring how we view an expansive vista, utilising the idea of snapshots through the formal divisions in the composition. This has developed into a visual reference of the passage of time.
