This artwork is an original created using mixed media - oil over acrylic on stretched canvas and is ready to hang. Inspiration came from nature and my love of flowers to produce this piece using a loose style giving it a semi abstract appearance. The palette used lends itself to a range of colour schemes and decor making a real statement on light coloured walls. Be sure to check the paintings actual size as artwork displayed in rooms is for illustration purposes and may not be truely to scale.
Born in the 60’s I was fortunate enough to grow up in beautiful Tasmania and as a self taught artist am inspired by the beauty and colours of nature. My passion for art started as a child when I spent countless hours watching my mother paint beautiful landscapes in oils and I would try to replicate her work with my coloured pencils. (Never quiet looked the same tho)! My brother is also a talented artist who produces some stunning paintings working predominately in watercolours and is my number one critique. My works are created using acrylic and oil paints on canvas and I also get great pleasure doing pet portraits in graphite and coloured pencil. My passion for art has developed tenfold in the past couple of years with focus on improving my skills. I enjoy learning from and sharing techniques with other artists and am a member of the Launceston Art Society which enables me to participate in exhibitions and workshops to expand my knowledge. I think one of the key elements of a good painting is brush time; with the onset of Covid restrictions I have made a point of painting every day and will continue on the same course post Covid as “practice makes perfect”. Stay safe😎
