Artwork Description

This painting was inspired by a family holiday to the Northern Territory some time ago. I took this photo of Uluru while watching the sunset and was able to capture some native flowers in the foreground adding more interest. Uluru is famous for its sunsets as “The Rock” continually changes colour adding to its beauty.
The bold outback colours of “Uluru” would add interest to any wall in the home or office while the subject matter makes a great conversation piece.

Artist Bio

Born in the 60’s I was fortunate enough to grow up in beautiful Tasmania and as a self taught artist am inspired by the beauty and colours of nature. My passion for art started as a child when I spent countless hours watching my mother paint beautiful landscapes in oils and I would try to replicate her work with my coloured pencils. (Never quiet looked the same tho)! My brother is also a talented artist who produces some stunning paintings working predominately in watercolours and is my number one critique. My works are created using acrylic and oil paints on canvas and I also get great pleasure doing pet portraits in graphite and coloured pencil.
My passion for art has developed tenfold in the past couple of years with focus on improving my skills. I enjoy learning from and sharing techniques with other artists and am a member of the Launceston Art Society which enables me to participate in exhibitions and workshops to expand my knowledge. I think one of the key elements of a good painting is brush time; with the onset of Covid restrictions I have made a point of painting every day and will continue on the same course post Covid as “practice makes perfect”.
