Nature Calling...After the Floods

I find simple things inspiring and this subject inspired and made me feel hopeful. I loved the play of the old and the new ... the new growth of the vine, draped over the ancient timber of the fence posts and juxtaposition against the dried and decaying debris from the recent floods. While painting this piece I felt such a respect for life, for resilience and that through adversity; it is the little things that bring hope for the future.

I love to paint and draw subjects that come from the world around me, that inspire me.

I grew up on a farm and spent a lot of time in the bush, this love of the land has remained with me, and I'm often drawn to things that reconnect me to my roots, these things call to me, and I feel a need to recreate them.

Oil paint, graphite and charcoal are my preferred mediums and I enjoy painting in a realistic style; however, I am learning to allow the painting to evolve and find its own way.

I am continually learning and growing as an artist and remain excited to see where my art journey takes me.
