Artwork Description

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder is a painting inspired by the beauty of nature in particular the rose, even when its beauty is fading and its petals begin to curl and drop of it is still incredibly interesting and beautiful. The colour of its petals change and the flower opens to reveal its stamens to the light. I have set the flowers against a dramatic background to heighten the sense of drama and change that mostly goes unnoticed. Using oil paint allows me to blend the colours and create an atmosphere that is totally imagined.
