I am a creator! I am inspired by ''all things nature". I live in Sydney, Australia. I was born in the Hunter Valley of NSW and have spent parts of my life in the U.K. and Canada. I have always been a ‘creator of things’ for as long as I can remember.
Living in a ski area of the Okanagan Valley Canada, skiing was amazing, but the urge to create lead me to the making of large tapestry wall hangings, weaving, spinning and dyeing my own wools, then learning the art of four harness floor loom weaving, leading to blanket and cloth making.
Pottery was also an interest mastering the wheel and the thin-ness of vessel walls!
Returning to Australia after 20 years in Canada, I was encouraged to try watercolour painting considering my love of colour. My paintings have moved over this time from a hobby to a profession, integrating my artworks with Interior design when clients asked for my assistance.
Interior design quickly became a passion, helping a client to create their space.
I have studied with Joe Bezzina, Ron Stannard, Wendy Sharpe, Jo Bertini and Dominique Sutton and have exhibited with artists such as Fiona Barrett, James Boissett, Martin Campbell, Stephen Caldis, the late Kathleen Jennings, Diana Wallwork, Christine de Stoop and Mollie Pegler.
I enjoy painting ‘en plein air’ in both watercolour and acrylics, primarily motivated by strong colour and light and in a contemporary manner.
Poppies, rainy day streetscapes and Australian landscapes have been my favourite genres, however recently I have become fascinated by large more abstract works.
My goal always is to deliver evocative visual experiences, telling a story to create a warmth in my viewer.
I continue to attend art classes, most recently with Dominique Sutton who is brilliant at developing more of the creative in her students.
Now, retired from a very different career, I am inspired by other artists and different surrounds.
My artworks are said to 'evoke a sense of wellbeing and uplifting of spirit'. This I find both inspiring and very rewarding.
I have had works purchased in Asia, Canada and the US, as well as in Australia and New Zealand.
Each day I’m excited to get to work on something I love.
