Artist Bio

Helen Newman grew up in country Victoria, surrounded by stunning outback landscapes. When she moved to the “the big city” Melbourne in her teens, everything about the city was new, it was bright, fun, inviting and scary all at the same time, she fell completely in-love with the city vibe.

That exciting and new feeling remains one of her biggest artistic inspirations, creating bright colourful pieces that inspire and allow others to get excited about life, be intrigued about new adventures, and see the world in a happy way.

Now with her own family, Helen lives in the Yarra Ranges, enjoying the best of both worlds… close enough to the busy city world and the country is only a hop skip and jump away. Inspiration is around every corner for Helen.

“When I start an artwork, I have a vision in mind however my art is created organically, very much like life and very rarely finishes the way I planned, I start seeing shapes, colours take form and enjoy the process of change. The outcome always surprises me.”
