Contented

This piece had many incarnations before this beautiful flower manifested. It was full of learning about gently holding struggle, poking and prodding until something beautiful emerges. It now breathes peace, contentment and empowerment.
The single focal point is slightly off centre. There are many small details scattered throughout to keep the viewer interested as their eye moves through the painting. Note the variety of shapes and sizes, layered colours in the background, and the intentional use of contrast to balance out muted peaceful colours.

I'm a self-taught artist based in Adelaide. After seeing an ad for an online painting course, I bit the bullet and from that point on started painting at every opportunity. I quickly discovered my favourite mediums: acrylic paint, oil pastels, soft pastels and markers of all kinds. I mainly paint on paper and canvas.

"I paint, therefore I am."

I paint because I need to. I paint to express and process emotions, and to support my mental health. I paint for joy and play and discovery. I believe everyone should create, using whatever medium resonates with them. Creativity, to me, is a source of individual and collective well-being that is largely untapped in western culture. Even in piercing expressions of pain, beauty can be found.

It is my hope that my paintings can add to a spirit of joy, discovery and creativity into your home.
