Frozen explosion

This piece was created using dynamic movement after gesso'ing the paper. A limited colour palette underscores powerful explosive movement in the piece. Paint was layered thickly for some elements (see detail photo) adding to texture and dimension. A slightly off-center focal point, combined with multiple elements scattered around, add visual interest and keep the eye interested as it moves around the piece. There is an interesting use of darks and lights. This abstract piece will look great in a variety of settings.

I'm a self-taught artist based in Adelaide. After seeing an ad for an online painting course, I bit the bullet and from that point on started painting at every opportunity. I quickly discovered my favourite mediums: acrylic paint, oil pastels, soft pastels and markers of all kinds. I mainly paint on paper and canvas.

"I paint, therefore I am."

I paint because I need to. I paint to express and process emotions, and to support my mental health. I paint for joy and play and discovery. I believe everyone should create, using whatever medium resonates with them. Creativity, to me, is a source of individual and collective well-being that is largely untapped in western culture. Even in piercing expressions of pain, beauty can be found.

It is my hope that my paintings can add to a spirit of joy, discovery and creativity into your home.
