I am Helena, a local artist of New England. My style is an expression of wild emotion and moment found in people and places, which I bring and capture in my art. Through heavy application of media and expressive brush strokes I strive to paint what only a human can see rather than a camera. I take interest in both the modern day and Australia's past in portraiture, landscape and often a mix of the two.
I am trying to raise money so that I can afford to move to Sydney to study art at one of the great art schools, and to pay for all of my supplies. I take inspiration from artists like the great Vincent Namatjira, Jeffrey Smart, Ben Quilty and many more distinguished Australian Artists.
I work in primarily acrylic, watercolour, coloured pencil, oil pastel and mixed media.
I use what I believe to be the highest quality supplies that give me the results I'm looking for such as brands like Schmincke and Prismacolor. Every artwork can then stand the test of time and love.
I have won three awards in the Brisbane Portrait Prize, I have also exhibited in galleries including Skyring Architects, Aspire Gallery, Armidale Art Gallery and the Uralla Rotary Art Show and Brisbane Portrait Prize.
