Artwork Description

This work explores the atmosphere and biomes within Tasmania's landscape gem known as the 'Walls Of Jerusalem'. Referencing maps of geological elements and bushwalks, I'm representing the inter-connectedness of rock, flora and microclimates to be experienced in this breathtaking Place. Water in cloud, rain, rivulets, pools and tarns heightens the colours of diverse and rare species.
The profile is Mount Jerusalem, which looks over the myriad lakes of this Central Highland
Region. Here is an extraordinary experience, which also brings focus to the local nomenclature. Emotional response of overwhelming awe and spiritual peace resonate with biblical invader names, and leaving the unresolved question of how this place was past experienced by Tasmanian Aboriginal People. It is not an easy bushwalk and requires overnight camping preparation and knowledge.
This painting is available without frame for lighter transit, the price quoted is framed.
The conceptual landscape painting both lifts a room with vibrant colour and engages contemplation and curiousity.

Artist Bio

In Lutruwita/Tasmania, I paint contemporary landscapes referencing mapping. Bushwalking takes me into awe-inspiring places within Tasmania.
Since graduating from University of Tasmania in Fine Arts (Painting), I have continued to create works representing iconic Tasmanian landscapes.
In 5 solo exhibitions, and in many group exhibitions statewide, I have presented large, medium and small scale landscapes in Oil on different grounds (Linen, Clayboard, Masonite, Canvas or Artist's Oil Paper). Typically, I will paint representational details within a landscape when working through to a Conceptual Image.
In this way I learn about a place. So I can offer Representational and Conceptual Oil Paintings through Bluethumb.
Colour engages and inspires me. The cultural history of a place is as influential around me, as is the natural environment.
Through my work process, I seek potential for human connection with place that transcends temporal and cultural boundary.
I pay my respects to the owners of the unceded lands on which I walk and paint, the Tasmanian Aboriginal Peoples, and to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
