Artwork Description

Once upon a time I got stuck for a night in the Paris metro, looking for some human interaction I found some clochard sitting on the other side of the closed gate drinking red wine and offering the bottle to me, which I accepted of course.
My art is positive art giving energy and enjoyment to the viewer

ADDITIONAL INFO:
I’m Hiske Tas Bain, born in The Hague, Holland, and trained at The Hague Royal
Academy of Arts, The Free Academy of Arts, and the Royal Regent Academy of Arts in
London. My artistic journey has been deeply shaped by Surrealism, Dadaism, and
Magic Realism, as well as by culture, music, and the people I’ve met along the way.
Traveling and living in places such as Paris, London, New York, Antwerp, and now
Australia, where I’ve resided for the past 50 years, has enriched my work with diverse
perspectives and experiences.
My fascination with Indigenous culture and the wonders of nature led me to live and
work with the tribal women of Ernabella in Australia’s Northern Territory. As a Natural
Therapist, I shared in their culture and crafts, and in turn, they gifted me knowledge
that has stayed with me throughout my life. My path as an initiate into Australian
Indigenous, American Indian, and Polynesian Kahuna Shamanic traditions has also
inspired me to teach Healing Art around the world.
Through my art, I aim to capture fleeting moments—memories, dreams, and the spirit
of different places and cultures. I want to reveal not only the beauty of the world but
also its potential for transformation. By shifting reality toward light and possibility, my
work seeks to offer a positive vision of what is and what can be.
