Artwork Description

DOMINO - ABSTRACT 106.6 cm(H) X 106.6 cm(W) X 3.5 cm(D)

Dramatic and bold, this dark, moody abstract features rich blacks and deep charcoals with subtle bluish undertones. Embracing minimalism with simple graphic shapes and a monochromatic colour scheme, Domino contrasts beautifully against a white or neutral wall, providing a welcoming element to contemporary homes whilst complementing modern design and decor.

Inspired by strong forms, colour blocked neutrals and the interplay between positive and negative space.

* Acrylic on a gallery wrapped canvas
* 3.5 cm deep sides painted black to frame the painting from any angle
* Varnished with a satin finish to both protect and reduce light glare
* Signed on the front
* Wired and ready to hang

Artist Bio

My name is Holly Playford. I am a self taught artist living in Adelaide, South Australia. I create a diverse range of Acrylic and Mixed media works, including contemporary abstracts and portraits, on gallery quality canvases. My main goal when painting is to create unforgettable, original and dynamic work that inspires its viewers. Bold, textured and vibrant, they are designed to add a wow factor to any space.

I work primarily in acrylics but often incorporate other mediums such as ink, charcoal, pens and pastels. Many of my paintings have a textured component which adds interest and dimension. My abstracts in particular, often begin from a very textured base that adds depth with a rustic feel.

My contemporary portrait paintings could be described as 'pop art abstract realism', containing elements of each style. They tend to be bold in vibrant colours, shapes and textures with over exaggerated highlights and shadows. I nearly always incorporate black in these as it adds the depth, contrast and dimension to the image that makes all other colours pop, and the overall piece come to life.
