The engineer
This piece is about unintended consequences. To invent, adopt, and embrace new technologies that help us in the short term without any thought to their long term consequences. I feel that we end up in a situation similar to that of the old woman who swallowed the fly, whereby we keep introducing new things to solve the problems caused by the previous things and getting ourselves into bigger and bigger problems.

oil on canvas, signed on sideOriginal oil painting on canvas. This painting reflects my pessimism about the decline of government by liberalism (in the classical sense) and democracy and their replacement by increasing rule by division, autocracy and unaccountable corporate organisations. The military helicopter alludes to the kind of world that the absence of liberalism and democracy may give us. Tower made of fighting figures
