In my art I seek to express the inexpressible. I hope it touches your soul, or at least speaks with a voice and rhythm that resonates beyond the image you see.
And while I paint alone in my thoughts, I paint to know I'm not alone.
I've always felt compelled to express myself in colour and images.
I started painting and drawing whatever I saw on our farm at age 13 because I was challenged by a high school art teacher who said everyone can draw, and that it was nonsense to suggest otherwise. I continued to paint and draw in my spare time while pursuing a creative engineering career designing innovative new products for global markets. I am largely self taught apart from a few tutors and artists who have critiqued and challenged me on my journey. I took up pastel as a medium when raising two small girls because it meant I could fit painting in between other responsibilities - like keeping children alive, fed and educated. I like the speed and immediacy of pastel but I also use charcoal and paint in oil, and acrylic.
