Artwork Description

‘Lonely, wish you were here’‘ is a departure from my total abstract work with a feeling of isolation and then creating sky and land forms in a colour palette, of my choosing, which is unrealistic in nature but true to my visualisation.
Whenever I construct a landscape it’s usually a place I would like to visit in a sort of ‘magical exploration’ sense, to feel the freedom of space, air and light but not alone.

~Layered artist quality acrylic with some metallic and pearlescent finishes on deep edge canvas 101cm x 76cm x 3.5cm

~This is an original, one of a kind artwork on stretched canvas and is ready to hang.

~The artwork is unframed with the edges toned and will look great from all sides.

~I have added a photo of the painting with a frame to show you what it may look like in your room if it suits you and your furnishings.

~The painting is proudly signed on the back with a certificate of authenticity.

Artist Bio

Originally from the UK, then migrating to Australia in 2009, I feel very lucky to live by the beautiful Lake Macquarie in NSW after a recent move from Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Living in Australia inspires a new direction in my work even if I don’t directly portray a particular place on the canvas it is my desire to express the ‘equivalent feeling’ of this patch of earth.

I’m happily self taught as this gives me total freedom of expression to paint the way I want and saves me from inheriting another artists style.
I have always been interested in art for as long as I can remember.

My work is usually acrylic on canvas and although the paintings tend to be very colourful I am mainly interested in colour and value relationships and how they work together, consequently my colour mixing palette is extensive as I continue this journey. My series ‘Joy of Colour’ does what it says on the tin, it celebrates what joyous feelings we have with a sensory feast of colour.
A main part of my vision is focusing on imaginary abstract or semi abstract landscapes.

Implicit is my dialogue with what is shown and that which is partially hidden.

Recently I have approached my work with a more abstract vibe, wanting the permission to realise and reveal more underlying layers of colour and fluidly of shapes without the specific design principles of realism. My series ‘Deconstructed’ explores the landscape very much intuitively where I let it flow mentally and physically with some strong shapes and lines.
I want to continue engaging in this way with my work as it gives me energy and makes me feel alive, I hope you enjoy looking.
