The studio in Old Darlinghust Goal , where I go for figure drawing , is fascinatingly trapazoidal in form. It has a strong rectangular patterned grey floor, cut, in winter, by lines of strident yellow power cable protectors running to the models radiators . I saw these forces as a dynamic and challenging visual scaffold for a figure composition.
in this eccentric space, I usually draw from the mezzanine using the nude and often my fellow artists as subjects . As a challenge to my understanding of the human form I sometimes draw my fellows without clothes. This painting is based entirely on my drawings ,my memory and my imagination. Lautrec and Degas with their vital figures and challenging compositions always influence my painting.
