Artwork Description

Occlusion is a figurative study of the nude female form, combining water-soluble graphite, charcoal, blue watercolour and white oil paint. The figure is positioned towards the left of the composition, while dense, layered mark-making interrupts and obscures parts of her head and arms. The contrast between the recognisable figure and areas of visual disruption explores the relationship between the body, perception and identity, leaving parts of the figure deliberately unresolved.
