Artwork Description

This is another image in my Autumn Harvest Series. It has it's inspiration from that same Autumn Day in Mt Wilson. This one however features a beautiful old metal box with markings that hint at its origin. It also includes some of the medlars that are grown locally.

In Autumn 2015 when visiting the historic village of Mt Wilson, I collected a few pieces of the autumn harvest from the local market. Back in my studio I remember playing around with items from my box of collectibles to see what I could do.

The images in the Autumn Harvest series are just some of the images I made that day. These however are special as they remind me of the old kitchen dresser or sideboard from when I was growing up in the country. Always filled with local produce and changing with the seasons. I have them framed and on the walls in my own home where they never cease to bring me joy.

As with all my images, these are limited to an edition of 100.

I print them myself on a Canson Platine Fibre Rag that has a satin effect and beautifully brings out the gloss on the fruit and bowl.

The images displayed here can be printed in a range of square sizes.

250mm x 250mm with a white space around the print of approximately 30mm.

Other sizes
A4 Paper $170
A3 Paper $290
A3+ Paper $310
A2 Paper $440

Artist Bio

My passion for photography was finally unleashed when I retired from education in 2010. Since then my knowledge and my style have developed considerably. I have had many opportunities through courses, workshops, mentoring, travel and exhibitions to nurture my passion for photography.

My style is more impressionism than realism. My passion is seascapes.

I decided a number of years ago that the seascapes I wanted to create would be more painterly, perhaps more gentle. I use a variety of techniques to make my images but the core of my work is created in camera. I use post processing to add another dimension and to resolve the image.

My work is not limited to seascapes. As a Blue Mountains resident, I have found a way of interpreting my local landscape. I don’t try to compete in style with the amazing landscape photographers who I admire, rather I try to put my own emphasis on the images I choose to capture. For the past 4 years I have had a relatively large body of work at the Blackheath Hub where my work became known. I am active in the Mtns Made community and I have valued getting to know other artists in my local area. I have been involved in a number of group photography exhibitions including in the Palm House, Botanic Gardens Sydney; Everglades, Leura; Braemar in Springwood; National Parks Govetts Leap Blackheath.

I print most of my own work in my home studio on my Epson large format using archival papers and inks. The work featured initially on Bluethumb is some of my local Blue Mountains and rural scenes.
