Artwork Description

The stretch of beaches around the Port Macquarie area are always very special to me having spent many hours along that part of the coast in my childhood. It's only natural I should return with my camera.

This image was created in camera with long exposures and some slight camera movement. It has been edited to emphasise the light and turbulence that I felt that day.

This image can be printed quite large. I print up to A2 size at home in my studio on the Epson large format printer with archival inks and papers. My suggestion is to print this on Canson Platine Fibre Rag 310gsm, however it is also delightful printed on a softer matte paper such as Canson Rag Photographique.

Different crops are available if needed to suit a particular wall space. Please contact me to discuss.

This image is priced unframed but can be quoted as a framed print ready to hang if requested.

A4 Paper $170
A3 Paper $290
A3+ Paper $310
A2 Paper $440

Artist Bio

My passion for photography was finally unleashed when I retired from education in 2010. Since then my knowledge and my style have developed considerably. I have had many opportunities through courses, workshops, mentoring, travel and exhibitions to nurture my passion for photography.

My style is more impressionism than realism. My passion is seascapes.

I decided a number of years ago that the seascapes I wanted to create would be more painterly, perhaps more gentle. I use a variety of techniques to make my images but the core of my work is created in camera. I use post processing to add another dimension and to resolve the image.

My work is not limited to seascapes. As a Blue Mountains resident, I have found a way of interpreting my local landscape. I don’t try to compete in style with the amazing landscape photographers who I admire, rather I try to put my own emphasis on the images I choose to capture. For the past 4 years I have had a relatively large body of work at the Blackheath Hub where my work became known. I am active in the Mtns Made community and I have valued getting to know other artists in my local area. I have been involved in a number of group photography exhibitions including in the Palm House, Botanic Gardens Sydney; Everglades, Leura; Braemar in Springwood; National Parks Govetts Leap Blackheath.

I print most of my own work in my home studio on my Epson large format using archival papers and inks. The work featured initially on Bluethumb is some of my local Blue Mountains and rural scenes.
