Artwork Description

Vincent Van Goughs Ear for Art
By Philip LiNDSAY
2025

. This unique portrait painting depicts Vincent van Gough as an artist in the modern era, exploring his profound passion for art and painting .

The turmoil he faced, exacerbated by a heated argument with his artist friend Paul Gauguin in 1888, which culminated in the drastic act of cutting off a part of his right ear.

Note : This painting was influenced by the famous 1886 portrait of Vincent van Gogh by Australian artist , John Russell, a close friend from their time working together at Fernand Cormon's studio in Paris. Russell captured Van Gogh in a striped suit and highlighting his intense gaze. It was noted for being a very accurate likeness by those who knew Vincent .

( This explanation of the painting will be printed and attached to the back of canvas).
